R. Kelly’s Associate quit amid sex scandal
R. Kelly’s Associates quit
R. Kelly’s associates may be deserting him amid sexual misconduct allegations against him.
The American singer’s lawyer, long-time assistant and publicist have all quit their positions, according to the BBC and The Rolling Stone.
The latest to quit is his publicist, Trevian Kutti who according to The Rolling Stone report, confirmed she resigned from her position April 16.
Kelly’s attorney Linda Mensch quit back in February but claims that the move was “unrelated to Mr Kelly’s social life’, according to a BBC report.
The singer’s executive assistant Diana Copeland told the BBC that she resigned from her position April 1. Copeland had worked with the R&B artist for ten years, but wouldn’t comment on her reasons for quitting.
On April 9, a 19-year-old woman filed a criminal complaint against singer R. Kelly, claiming that he “knowingly and intentionally” gave her a sexually transmitted disease.
“These offenses occurred while our client was being groomed to join Kelly’s sex cult,” the woman’s lawyer said.
Last year, Buzzfeed reported that parents had alerted police about R. Kelly for allegedly creating an abusive cult that was brainwashing women and holding them against their will. The Singer denies the accusations.
