A survey conducted in 2017 by the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (Zimstat) with support from UNFPA, Unicef and International Organisation for Migration indicates Zimbabwe literacy rate which stands at 94 percent still remains the highest in Africa.
According to the study, about 63 percent of the student population is attending school.
“In Zimbabwe there are equal proportions of male and female who have never been to school and there are slightly more males than females in school. Among those who have left school, there are more females than males and the same is observed towards higher levels of education”, the report reads.
Zimstat conducted the survey on the 18 – 23 August 2017 with technical, financial and material support from international organizations like UNFPA, Unicef and International Organisation for migration.
