Asamoah Gyan to resign from football after AFCON 2019

Ghanaian professional footballer, Asamoah Gyan may resign from active football after African cup of Nation (AFCON) 2019, Chief Executive Officer and Manager of Asamoah Gyan foundation, Samuel Anim Addo has indicated.

According to Samuel Addo, though he cannot affirm his statement, there is a possibility that his client will call time on his illustrious career after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
“It’s likely he would like to quit football after the AFCON is over,” Samuel Addo told Jeffries Kwabena Sintim-Koree ‘Chaskele’ on Zylofon Sports.

“It is likely, with these kinds of things he’ll the best man to affirm it, and so I can’t say it on his behalf, but it’s likely. It’s likely, it’s a possibility.”
Gyan had a troubled campaign at Kayserispor last term, where he struggled with fitness and form and was largely inactive for the club – scoring just once in nine appearances last term.

The 33-year-old’s dark days seemed to over after he was declared fit before commencement of the ongoing campaign, but has settled for a bench role in their first two league games.
His lack of game time at Kayserispor prompted Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah to leave him out of his 18-man squad for next month’s Africa Cup of Nation’s qualifier against the Harambee Stars of Kenya.
Many football advocates have been calling on the former Sunderland hitman to hang his boots due to his persistence injury problems.
Gyan is Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 50 goals to his credit.
