Egypt crashes out of AFCON

The Pharaohs were given a shock of their life after a 1-0 loss to South Africa who fought and had a historic victory in the round of 16.

This will be Egypt’s first loss at their home in the African Cup of Nations in 33 years.

This is the first defeat for Egypt in their home since 1986, when they hosted the tournament.

Egypt won the title then, but the Pharaohs lost the opening game against Senegal on March 7, 1986.

Egyptian Football Association President Hany Abo Rida sacked the Egyptian national team coaching staff on the early hours of Sunday.

Abo Rida, as well as many board members, resigned from their position.
